With the changing of the season, and the arrival of warmer temperatures, Teen Daze returns with his third release of the 2023: The Wind Surfer, a collection four breezy, sun-kissed tunes that lend themselves to a variety of different listening situations.

We start with the title track, The Wind Surfer, as it eases us into a world of saltwater air and warm breezes. A softly arpeggiated synth line carries us over light waves, and through gentle mists. It’s only in the second half of the tune that the waves, the wind, and the drums start to pick up, and we end the song on a triumphant note.

It may be a Rainy Summer, but this one is all Beach. Light pan flutes, vocal samples, swinging drums and some of the softest acid lines all weave together to create a collage of familiar, melancholic summer sounds.

Let me paint you a picture: It’s sunset on the White Isle, you’re taking in the colours in the sky from the sand outside of the iconic Cafe Del Mar. Can you hear that song wafting through the speakers on the patio? Perhaps Palms might just be the song you’re hearing in that moment.

We end the EP with a dose of energy, in the form of Surfing In France, a swung, skittering track that still keeps the feeling of summer alive, even if the sun’s setting. It makes me wonder: Did Daft Punk ever play in Ibiza?
